Final Post

I have realized that I am beginning to run out of dunks to talk about.  As a so called "sneaker enthusiast" I have been very biased about the style of shoes that I wear.  I think it actually might be time to expand my collection to other models. If I am able to come back to blog about them I might decide to take the time to talk about them as well.  But I've been thinking about whether I actually need new shoes and how I will address this issue in the future.  I can't wear sneakers everyday for forever you know?  I guess that's why I'm an enthusiast and not a sneakerhead.

Graduation

As we approach the end of the school year, we get closer and closer to graduation.  Now not only is there an all night grad party but many graduates like to throw their own personal graduation parties.  I decided it would be best not to since my sister graduated from Old Dominion this past Saturday.  I feel hers is a little more important then my milestone so she should be having one instead of me.  Of course we could combine our graduation parties but I stumbled upon an ultimatum.  Instead of having my own grad party I can just let her have her own and just receive congratulatory gifts from relatives (usually money) to buy certain items, for example some new dunks.

Originality

Today I saw a kid wearing a pair of dunks I sought after for months and was finally able to acquire only a few months ago.  This isn't the only time this has happened, on numerous occasions I have seen other people wearing the same shoes I have and frankly its kind of annoying.  For me, I don't like to buy or wear the same thing that other people already have, it feels like I'm copying their style or "swag" so I am just unable to understand why other people do it.  Just saying.

Facebook page

Nike SB, my usual source for dunks has finally created its own Facebook page!  Certainly thousands of skaters and shoe collectors will soon be adding the page to their likes to keep well informed about new releases.

Space Jam

If you were born in the 80's or 90's you must remember the kids classic movie "Space Jam" which featured Looney Tunes made famous by Warner Bros. and arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan.  In the movie there was an important scene where MJ asks Bugs and Daffy to retrieve a number of items including his basketball shoes.  These shoes were eventually released to the public in limited quantities.  In a tribute to that shoe and the movie, Nike will be releasing and low version of Dunks featuring the same colorway as the shoe.

DXC

The most recent dunk xchange took place in the one and only New York City.  For those of you who don’t know what exactly a dunk xchange is, it is basically exactly as it sounds.  People from all over gather in one spot to sell, buy, or trade Nike Dunks as well as other rare shoes.  However, more than just shoes are available for purchase.  For example there are limited edition t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, and hats.  Of course you don’t have to buy anything at these markets, you can simply go to look around at other people’s collections or sell from your own personal supply of clothing and footwear.
At the majority of Dunk Xchanges or DXC as they are sometimes called, there are a variety of musicians and artists that perform for the audience and customers.  At the New York City Dunk Xchange, lyrical genius, Pusha T, made an appearance.

Lessons Learned

Over the course of the school year in which we have been required to blog about a subject of our choice but as the year is coming to an end so I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what I've learned about blogging.  I think the first thing I learned this year is that its not as hard or as easy as some people might think it is, for instance all you need to do is pick a good topic to talk about, preferably something you have a passion for, but theres always times where you run out of things to blog about, I know I had this problem when I couldn't find a pair of dunks that interested me when we were required to submit blog posts.  I also learned that it's important to create a variety of things to talk about so that your blog posts aren't repetitive.  The most important thing I learned while blogging was that anyone can view the blogs.  This could be potentially good or bad depending on the things you talk about so it's important to make sure you don't say anything you don't want a particular person to read.
While blogging I discovered that I have an expensive taste in footwear.  Most of the sneakers I posted or blogged about were at least 70 dollars.  Some of them ran up to a cost of $1800 due to the rarity of the shoe.
As of right now I don't think I will continue to blog after the school year is over.  It was a fun assignment but I noticed I never had the urge to blog about my topic.  Plus in college I'm not really sure I'll have the time to blog.

Workwear

These are the Nike Dunk SB Workwears.  They are a rather rare shoe now that it is "deadstock" or no longer being made.  It features a different colorway resembling workwear of manual laborers which compliment each other quite well.

Denim

Over the years Nike has tried to come up with different materials to create their shoes.  Recently Nike SB has released a new high top dunk made from denim.  There have been other dunks also made from denim so this could be a recurring trend for Nike.  It started with the dunk lows shown below and continued to the high black denims and now Nike SB has released the two at the bottom

This is a song that reminds me of my interest in shoes, although it is not my all time favorite song it fits well with the blog.
